Nailing Down Some Details

No, I haven't forgotten about this place. It's just that so much has been up in the air regarding any sort of wedding plans, that I'd held off posting until things were looking up, and the sun was back in our metaphorical sky.

Well, the sun hasn't quite made an appearance, but the clouds are beginning to break, Nate's getting started in a new job, and we're cautiously optimistic that we'll be able to finance a wedding by Fall 2011.

So! We now have a new tentative date, 10.01.11, and an almost-definite place. Previous wedding colors have been thrown out the window and we're currently fighting with each other as to what we'd like them to be. (Suggestions are welcome. This is a fall wedding, so anything that may possibly seem springy or girly is probably out.) My current hangup is a coppery-russet and aubergine... Nate's not too fond. I'll get more into that, and what will probably be the most controversial decision of our wedding in a later post.

Also, I'm probably going to blow the blog wide open within the next couple of weeks, invite our wedding posse to become contributors, and set the general readership to open, so that y'all won't have to log in. (Just FYI.)

On taffeta, zombies and ceremonies:

So, in my random wanderings around the internet whilst I'm trying to figure out what, exactly a girl who has attended a total of four weddings in her life, is supposed to do to plan one of these things, I have noticed two recurring themes.

One:
As a girl, nothing has changed since high school prom. Once you've secured your man, the dress becomes the most important, be-all, end-all function of your life.

Two:
Nobody makes zombie-uprising compliant wedding attire.

That having been noted, upon browsing around Offbeat Bride, I found a wedding ceremony that speaks about zombies.

Will I be using it? No. Did it make me feel better about my own paranoia? You bet it did!

*twiddles knobs, tweaks dials. Taps microphone. It squeals.* This thing on? Testing...?
